The Wesleyan Chinese Music Ensemble is a performance group dedicated to exploring the modern Chinese ensemble and a variety of Chinese music styles. It is made up of a number of traditional Chinese instruments, including plucked lutes and zithers, hammered dulcimer, bowered fiddles, bamboo and reed flutes, and percussion. The course is designed to be hands-on and experiential, encouraging students to explore the basic ideas of Chinese music and culture through weekly rehearsals, practices, and performances. |

Examinations and Assignments:
Regular practice outside of class is expected. Assessment is based on attendance, participation in class rehearsals, weekly recorded practice assignments, midterm exam, and the end of the semester performance |

Permission of instructor is needed for this course. All students should attend the audition/interview during the first class - Monday, September 4, 2023, 5pm in RHH 003
Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation |
