Course Cluster: Southern Asia Studies |
This course will introduce advanced students of Karnatak vocal music to raga alapana and svara kalpana, the most important forms of melodic improvisation. Students will begin by learning pre-composed examples of these forms. As they become comfortable with idiom, they will progress to designing their own improvisations. |
