Black Power Movements in the 1970's

This course will exam the lasting cultural and political impact of Black Power Movements in the United States in the 1970s. It will examine its Black nationalist ideological foundations, memoirs and critical essays, cinematic and artistic texts and recent scholarly works on the politics of the era. Students will have the opportunity to understand and explore the political importance of this era as well as consider the long term impact of this time on contemporary Black politics.
