The course examines the powerful role cinematic representation has played in (re)imagining and (re)constructing a new nation through continuously reconfiguration gender and class in twentieth century China. The course studies thirteen most representative films produced in different history periods of modern China, analyzing the binding rlationship among history, politics, and modern visual culture. |
