The course aims to develop an understanding of the applications of the principles of economics to the study of financial markets, instruments, and regulations. The objective is to provide an understanding of the theory of corporate finance and how it applies to the real world. Students will work with financial data and case studies to explore the potential and limitations of financial theory in dealing with real-world problems. |

Major Readings:
Berk and De Marzo, Corporate Finance, 4th edition, Pearson. Additional short readings will be assigned on the syllabus and distributed in class.

problem sets, group term project (4 reports), research paper, and 2 exams. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Students who complete ECON 329 cannot receive credit towards the ECON major for ECON 227, or vice versa depending on your needs for major credit. At least one nominally optional computer workshop will be scheduled for at least two times outside of regular class meetings. It will be difficult, if not impossible, to complete the group reports without attending the computer workshops. |
