In this course, advanced dance students will learn complex dances from a number of different ethnic cultures from Ghana and West Africa. The historical, social, cultural, and religious contents of each dance will be presented. Focus will be given to mastery of the texture effort, shape, and dynamics within the choreography. This is a physically rigorous and challenging course for those who have completed DANC360 (West African Dance II) or have equivalent experience. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Prerequisites: DANC360 Students will be expected to perform in the West African Drumming and Dance Concert. Students must contact the Professor for permission into the course. Please come to the first class ready to dance.
Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
