Examinations and Assignments:
Reading, weekly film viewing, movement reviews and journal entry are required every week. Final Project (in class presentation and final paper). Journals are graded by quality of thinking/writing and how it reflects homework assignments. Students will not have access to grades during the course. Students are encouraged to nurture their own rigor, but the instructor is available for consultation throughout the six-week course. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
The class will meet twice a week on Sundays and Mondays for three hours for the first six weeks of the semester (January 27-March 4). Class times are Sundays 2pm-5pm and Mondays 7pm-10pm. Attendance is mandatory for every class session. The homework load is heavy. I will only accept students who are willing to work hard in the first half of the semester. This course is part of the Creative Campus Initiative (www.wesleyan.edu/creativecampus)

B. What you discovered on the web and how you personally relate to that discovery.
C. Any scheduling conflicts you have between January 27-March 4.
Once POI is granted, attendance for every class is mandatory.

The instructor is a dancer, choreographer, and interdisciplinary artist (see www.eikoandkoma.org) who grew up in post-war Japan. Movement material in the course is not athletic, fast, or difficult. Previous experience in movement or dance is not required, but your willingness to experiment and to share your movement with others is essential. |
