Essential Capabilities:
Designing, Creating, and Realizing, Interpretation
Interpretation: Students will analyze and research the text of "The Skriker "in order to design, create and perform a play with puppets and people. The play deals with a suffering world of traditional "fairies" of the British Isles. The conceptual framework for the design of these otherworldly beings must help the audience through the maze of very complex poetic language and extraordinary events.
Designing, Creating, and Realizing: This class will work with "The Skriker" by Caryl Churchill. Students will develop performing objects (e.g. shadow puppets) which will embody the characters and ideas presented in the text. They will learn to perform with these objects and will be members of the production team that presents the text in the CFA Theater in November 2009.

Participation in the design, construction, and performance of "The Skriker" by Carol Churchill, which will be performed with puppets and people as the Theater Department's Fall 2009 production in the CFA. |
