This workshop offers students with prior experience writing nonfiction a chance to develop new work and to analyze a range of texts. Class meetings will be devoted to analysis of these texts and to the constructive critique of students' essays. Students will also write short response papers on the required texts and will meet with visiting writers. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Meetings with and readings by visiting writers will be an additional element of the course.
To apply to this course, please submit 5 double-spaced pages of prose (preferably creative nonfiction). Please also submit a cover page that includes the following: 1) your name, email address, year in school, major (if any), the number of this course, some of your favorite writers and any other influences 2) a short biographical statement (a paragraph) describing your creative writing background 3) if you are applying to more than one upper level creative writing course, you must list them all and indicate your order of preference. The application deadline is Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at 5 p.m. Please submit your materials electronically in a single attachment to etinker@wesleyan.edu with the Subject Heading "POI Application-ENGL326." Please use either Microsoft Word or rich text format for your attachment, with the file name: "Last Name-First Initial-Course Number" (e.g. Smith-J-ENGL326.docx). You will be notified electronically of the status of your application by the end of the Planning Period.
Students may not take this course and another creative writing course concurrently. |
