This course will explore the problems and problem-solving techniques of the annual William Lowell Putnam mathematical competition. Particular emphasis will be placed on learning to write clear and complete solutions to problems. The competition is open to all undergraduate students. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: The class will meet on these dates: Sept. 6, 13 and 27; Oct. 4 and 25; Nov. 8, 15 and 29. Attendance at six or more classes and completion of six or more homework assignments are required for credit. The class will be meeting in SCIE 601.
This course cannot be used as the 200-level math course needed for AP credit.
The course is recommended for any student interested in taking the Putnam exam on the first Saturday in December, which in 2012 is Dec. 1st. |
