This is an advanced acting class in studio format focusing on the skills of voice and speech needed for the performance of classical texts. Students will follow a progression of in-class exercises designed to uncover a voice that is flexible, responsive, and sensitive to impulse. Students also will explore scene study techniques specifically developed in connection with performing Shakespeare's plays and designed to engage them physically and vocally with the demands of almost any play written in heightened text. During the course of the semester, students will memorize, rehearse, and perform scenes and monologues. |
