Major Readings:
Readings will include history and gender in Islam, Orientalism, multiculturalism, rights claims and human rights.

Examinations and Assignments:
A variety of different writing projects will be assigned in which students analyze arguments about rights, gender and culture. Classes will also include debates and formal discussions. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
No prior knowledge of Islam or philosophy is assumed. However, careful reading of each day's assignments and thoughtful written products will determine your grade. |
