Major Readings: Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore
Readings will consist of data papers selected from recent scientific journals to highlight issues of current resonance. Examples may include: the impact of climate change on physiology, ecological interactions, and evolution; the link between environmental toxins and developmental disorders, and ecological and evolutionary risks of genetically engineered crops.

Examinations and Assignments: Students will attend lectures shared with BIOL 182, and will take exams along with the BIOL 182 students. Students will be expected to submit written discussion questions from the readings prior to each weekly discussion meeting of BIOL 196. Grades will be based on the quality of these questions, on class participation and on performance on exams shared with BIOL 182. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students should have a strong interest in the biological sciences and a good background of coursework and/or research experience. |
