This course supplements E&ES280 by providing students the opportunity to apply GIS concepts and skills to solve local problems in environmental sciences. Small groups of students will work closely with community groups to design a GIS, collect and analyze data, and draft a professional-quality report to the community. |

Examinations and Assignments:
The course involves a semester-long community-based service-learning project. The project requires collaborative group work (in-person or online) consisting of 3-5 students and a community partner. Potential community organizations and projects will be provided. |

E&ES 280 must be taken concurrently.
Requirement: Enrolled students must have a laptop with Windows operating system and wi-fi for running ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online. (One-year GIS licenses will be provided.) Possible, but not ideal, options for Mac owners include a loaner laptop, Bootcamp on the Mac, Parallels on the Mac, accessing a remote desktop, or the Wesleyan MyApps site.
