Students will be assigned at least one play to read each week. The assigned texts offer examples of various dramatic structures and theatrical techniques that can shape a play. Writing exercises will often be based on the reading.
|
Examinations and Assignments: Short weekly writing assignments are designed to ignite a creative vision and develop the playwrights' voice. Students will be assigned specific workshop sessions where longer pieces will be read aloud and discussed by their peers. For the final project, each playwright will write, through a series of submissions and revisions, a one-act play of at least 20 pages and stage an excerpt from this piece. |
