Winner of the Nobel and Pulitzer prizes, Toni Morrison is an undeniable literary and cultural force. This course will enable students to explore her entire body of work as well as its impact on modern American culture, particularly concerning issues of race, gender, sexuality, memory and identity.

Essential Capabilities: Intercultural Literacy, Interpretation
The whole of this course will center on analysis of Morrison's texts as well as their context, while the writing assignments will prepare students with the experience of taking intellectual claims whether in the forum of an academic paper, creative writing piece or an analytical discussion of said piece.
