Texts will include a packet of essays, A FIELD GUIDE FOR SCIENCE WRITERS (Blum et al.); WRITING TOOLS (Clark); and BEST AMERICAN SCIENCE AND NATURE WRITING 2012 (Ariely).

Examinations and Assignments: Students will write a news story for a general audience that describes the findings of a journal article; critique media coverage of science; write broadly about a science or medicine topic of their choice; and read and report on a book in the history of science and medicine. These assignments and others will prepare students to research, write, and revise a profile of a scientist, which will constitute the final project. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: To apply: submit a statement explaining why you want to take the course and describing your experiences and interest in the sciences and in writing.
