This course explores the psychology of political preferences and decision-making. More specifically, we will examine the role of predispositions, values, rationality, emotions, and social influences on a variety of political attitudes and behaviors. In doing so, we will engage with research from many disciplines that study human behavior, with the goal of obtaining a more holistic understanding of why people do what they do in the realm of politics. This deeply interdisciplinary endeavor will motivate us to think about politics beyond single disciplinary perspectives, moving toward a more comprehensive view that adopts useful insights from each relevant field. |
