This course will explore the history of Sol LeWitt's more than 1,000 wall drawings (1968-2007). It will consider their significance in the history of conceptual art, and their influence on the visual arts, as well as on select composers, dancers, and performance artists. |

Examinations and Assignments: Active class participation required, based on assigned weekly readings. One short mid-term paper (from selected topics) and a final term paper (topic of student's choice, to be approved by instructor). |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: There will be two day-trips to "MassMOCA" (North Adams, MA) to view the permanent installation of 100 LeWitt wall drawings (See www.massmoca.org/lewitt/).
These two dates are Saturday, October 5 & Saturday, November 9. Each trip will leave at approximately 8:45AM and return at 6:00PM. Transportation and museum entrance costs will be covered by Wesleyan.
Please note that these field trips are absolutely required and represent an integral part of the course. |
