ENGL 317
Spring 2015
| Section:
01
|
Crosslisting:
WRCT 317 |
Certificates: Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory, Writing |
In this class we will study classic and contemporary novels, stories, and television dramatic series that immerse the reader and viewer in an absorbing fictional plot. Our priorities will be close reading and watching for the pleasure and enlightenment of the works as wholes, as well as an examination of the choices storytellers make to snag our imaginations, drag them into a fictional world, and keep them there. The study will culminate in new creative work: short stories you will write and the class will critique in a workshop setting. |
