Working with Excel and VBA
QAC 151
Spring 2022
| Section:

Many of us know Excel for its spreadsheets: a quick and easy way to store some information, share it, and maybe make some charts. The goal of this course is to show you the more advanced features of Excel. We will write code in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), learn how to import data from external databases and Web-based resources, create custom menus to interact with a user, and examine how Excel can be used in business decision making. |

Examinations and Assignments:
This course will have weekly homework assignments and a final project. The book for the course is available online through the Wesleyan library. Starting with week 2, you must come to class prepared and be familiar with the readings. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Note for Mac users: This class will be using Excel for PCs. It is possible that some of the more OS-specific functions will work differently on your Mac. In addition, the Solver Add-in, which we will use in week 6, was dropped from the Excel for Macs release in 2009, but was reintroduced in 2011. If you are considering taking this course, you must be sufficiently skilled in Excel.
