Sumi-e Painting II is an advanced class for which Introduction to Sumi-e Painting (ARST 260) is a prerequisite. In this course, foundation techniques will be expanded upon. We will re-examine traditional techniques and composition, and there will be exploration of new contemporary techniques. There will also be experimentation with tools beyond the brush. This course will introduce a concept based approach to narrative and content. Students will be encouraged to develop a personal style and method. |

It is preferred that students seeking to enroll in this course would have completed ARST 131 Drawing 1,but this is not a prerequisite. Please contact the instructor for permission.
Interviews will be Wednesday, November 8th 11:30 - 1 and 3:00 - 6:00 at Prof. Shinohara's office, art studio south #104.
If you have them, please bring sumi-e paintings from Sumi-e I up to 5. If you cannot come at that time, please contact me to make an appointment for another time, kshinohara@wesleyan.edu. Interviews are on a first come first serve basis. |
