In this course, documentary history and theory meet production: "What does it take to make different style documentaries -- including observational, poetic, expository, participatory, and reflexive?" Students will explore documentary story elements and film grammar as they learn how to capture sound, record video, edit material, light subjects, conduct an interview, and work with archival materials, graphics, and music. They will learn through practice and by screening and analyzing a wide range of long-form documentaries made by a wide range of filmmakers. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Students will need a large hard drive for high-definition video projects and should contact the instructor before securing this hardware. If students intend to use their own computers for coursework, they should have at least 16GB of unifed memory and should check with Adobe requirements for running Premiere Pro on their computer. |
