This course explores topics in demographic economics. It is divided into three main modules: fundamentals of demography, economics of demography, and human migration. In the first module, we discuss basic demographic concepts, global population history, demographic geography, and population projections. In the second module, we explore issues such as the Demographic Transition and the Industrial Revolution, population ageing, and the environmental effects of population growth. In the third module, we discuss the costs and benefits of human migration from the point of view of both sending and receiving countries. |
