- All newly hired Writers Room staff will enroll in the Ford Seminar to deepen their knowledge and skill sets around writing and writing instructions and tutoring. Students will read about historical and present approaches to writing education in higher education, learn about the histories and politics of Writing Center work in higher education, and engage with a variety of approaches to one-on-one writing support with a focus on dis/ability, race and ethnicity, multilingualism and linguistic justice, and gender and sexuality. Additionally, students will practice one-on-one tutoring practices, engage deeply in their own writing process and relationships to literacy, and observe other sessions to increase their repertoires.
Assignments include weekly readings and reflections, literacy narrative, observations, and a final genre project.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
- Returning Writers Room staff. This section will focus on group and independent research projects that include producing educational materials, designing a research study, drafting a conference proposal and paper, or developing an article or book chapter for publication. In addition to these semester-long research and writing projects, staff will continue to develop their professional skills by practicing different writing techniques with and on each other. We will focus primarily on discipline and genre specific writing expectations.
