This introductory course is designed for students with intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Spanish language. The class focus is to help students understand basic scientific concepts in Spanish and discuss scientific literature of general interest in Spanish. The goal is to develop language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) with focus on scientific topics. |

: Selected readings from primary literature and case studies will be published in Moodle.

Examinations and Assignments: : In person and remote (zoom) meetings will feature Spanish speaking Faculty and Students, who will give presentations on primary scientific literature in Spanish. Discussion and participation in class is expected. A final project will be due at the end of the semester. Students should expect some readings and assignments prior to the beginning of the semester meetings to assess proficiency in the language. Syllabus will be released in Moodle early in August.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: : This course will be taught in Spanish. Students should have taken SPAN 221 or have the equivalent level of Spanish as indicated by the Spanish placement test. This requirement can be waived for native speakers of Spanish on a case by case basis. Please consult with the professor. |
