Fall 2022

This course is designed to introduce and develop a broad range of skills integral to capturing a live performance across performing arts disciplines. In addition to learning image and sound capture techniques and editing skills, through a range of workshops and lab assignments we will work collaboratively to capture productions being staged at various performance venues throughout the campus. These performances will be organized by Wesleyan faculty and students. Our capture and documentation of these productions may involve multi-camera setups and the recording of rehearsals to gain full access to on-stage performances. In-class workshops will be opportunities to develop and test our ideas. These sessions will simulate performance environments, helping us prepare for the capture of the live shows. Our aim is to explore image and sound capture techniques that add cinematic language to a recorded performance in ways that heighten the viewing experience. |
