This course is designed to enable people who write to become better writers and to become their own competent--even more-than-competent--editors. There will be criticism as well as praise, and mostly we will work together and individually to become better writers and editors, regardless of genre. There will be writing and re-writing, and reading aloud with purpose will be encouraged. |

Dreyer's book, Salesses' book, Zinsser's On Writing Well, Diana Athill's STET, Janelle's Adsit's anthology Critical Creative Writing and George Saunders' A Swim in the Pond in the Rain.

Contributes to fulfillment of ENGL major requirements: CW requirement, CW path course (300-level), elective.
The English department highly recommends that students be enrolled in only one CW course in a semester. If you are admitted to more than one CW course, the department requests that you choose one and let the instructors know during Adjustment Period. By doing so you will be considerate of instructors and other students.
