Students have been required to practice technical crew work as long as we have had a major. In other departments, this work is acknowledged through the allocation of credit. Offering credit for this curricular experience brings us in line with practice in the Theater Department, and acknowledges the value we attribute to learning about production aspects of dance. Students will work under the guidance of faculty member Chelsie McPhilimy. |

DANC444 sec 2: Console Operator/Assistant Stage Manager - This position is a lighting or sound console operator for a performance or an Assistant Stage Manager. Responsibilities for the operator include programming the console during technical rehearsals, ensuring proper start up/shut down of associated equipment, and running of console during performances. ASM responsibilities include assisting in coordinating backstage crew, serving as the main line of communication between the stage manager and the rest of the crew, assisting in moving scenic, lighting, sound, prop, etc elements as needed during the tech rehearsals and performances, and assisting dancers with needs backstage.

DANC444 Sec 3: Backstage Run Crew - This position is a run crew position that facilitates needs backstage during a production. Responsibilities may include assisting in moving scenic, lighting, sound, prop, etc elements as needed during tech rehearsals and performances, assisting dancers as necessary backstage, assisting with preparation of the space for rehearsals and performances.
