This neuroscience laboratory course provides students with basic principles of neuroscience research. It is designed to prepare students to participate in advanced research courses and tutorials. The course covers the theory and principles of researching topics in neuroscience. Students will learn fundamental techniques that advance our understanding of the structure and function of the human brain. Topics covered include histology and microscopy, electrophysiology, working with behavioral data, and neuroimaging methods. Students will learn to integrate empirical data with theoretical perspectives by using publicly accessible data sets. They will also become familiar with commonly used lab equipment and tools. |

Examinations and Assignments:
To be finalized, but will likely include like weekly preparation assignments/homework, participation in experiments, lab reports and a term project designing an experiment to test an important hypothesis in the neuroscience field. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Students must provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including: 1. Lab Coat: white, below hips, fluid resistant reusable, long sleeves 2. Safety glasses: with wrap-around lenses 3. Lab Notebook: bound |
