Writing Your Own Poetry Collection

This half-credit course will offer an introduction to the practice of writing and editing a short cohesive collection of original poetry. The class will be half classic writing seminar focusing on the reading and constructive discussion of poetry brought in by members of the class, and other half group discussions on what makes a collection effective not only on the individual poem level, but as a thematically focused piece of art. The final project for the class will be the creation of a small collection (10-20 pages) of poems. This course is being led by Oliver Egger, Kim-Frank Fellow. |

Examinations and Assignments: : There will be one short writing assignment weekly, usually a new poem but occasionally reading responses or reflective essays. The class will culminate with the creation of a small chapbook of poems and a short essay explaining your choice of thematic focus. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: : This will NOT fulfill any ENGL major requirements in creative writing. - This course will be led by Oliver Egger, Kim Frank Fellow. |
