The Holocaust profoundly challenged traditional Jewish theological and interpretive frameworks, compelling Jewish thinkers to revisit and reinterpret biblical texts. This course examines the reinterpretation of key Hebrew Bible passages in light of post-Holocaust Jewish thought, focusing on themes of suffering, justice, covenant, and the nature of God. We will explore biblical texts alongside the writings of seminal Jewish thinkers, including Emil Fackenheim, Elie Wiesel, and others, to understand how the Holocaust reshaped Jewish approaches to scripture and theology. |
