Introduction to the Portuguese language and the Lusophone-world with a focus on Brazil. Students will develop basic language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) along with an awareness of the Portuguese-speaking world in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, including its presence in the United States. PORT 101 and PORT 102 are designed as a year-long sequence, with each course covering half the textbook, along with other materials including Brazilian film, poetry, media, children's literature, journalism and music. |
