Finance and Economic Growth

This course studies the role of financial systems in long-run economic growth. We examine how banks, financial markets, and institutions affect capital allocation, innovation, productivity, and macroeconomic stability. Topics include financial development, credit constraints, misallocation, financial crises, and the interaction between finance and technological change. The course combines theoretical models with empirical evidence from cross-country, historical, and firm-level data.
