This course examines literary self-writing as a practice through which identity is questioned, shaped, and reimagined, with particular attention to writing across languages and cultural contexts. Through readings by Italian and transnational authors (including Alba de Cespedes, Anna Banti, Italo Svevo, Jhumpa Lahiri, Espérance Hakuzwimana) the course explores how narratives of the self engage with issues of gender, class, race, memory, and social belonging. Students will analyze a range of autobiographical and autofictional forms while developing their own sustained work of self-writing in Italian, shaped through ongoing revision and discussion. The course is thought in Italian. |
