In this seminar, students will learn interdisciplinary methods for conducting focused research and media-based fieldwork to study socioecological collapse and possibilities for more livable, more than human futures on a damaged planet. The course will be structured around two real-world case studies and field trips, including the restoration of chestnut forests in/around CT, and the transformation of a birch forest surrounding a decommissioned power plant in Manresa, CT. Course readings will draw from the fields of Science and Technology Studies (STS), Multispecies Ethnography, Environmental Sciences and Humanities, and Digital Media. |
