The course will provide an extensive technical and theoretical knowledge of audiovisual production. The class will include a mixture of training and workshops, background on theory and history, and time for individual and group projects -- all working together to create a foundation for both classical and experimental filmmaking techniques. The course will include seminal written frameworks for audio and video production, utilizing these frameworks in application, working with both documentary and fiction.
We will cover the basics of video, audio, lighting and motion capture equipment, as well as post-production and editing softwares, with room for further technical experimentation. Assignments will be based primarily in making, as well as core readings and screenings that will facilitate group discussion and collaboration. The class is open to all seeking practical experience, with any level of background. |
