Intermediate Italian II
Required Sequence: ITAL111 & ITAL 112
ITAL 112
Spring 2008
Section: 01   02

This course is the second half of our two-semester intermediate sequence (111 and 112), and it is designed to increase students' confidence and ability to read, write, speak and understand the language. Students are guided through more complex grammatical structures and more challenging cultural material. The course materials, which include the detective novel UNA STORIA SEMPLICE, allow students to explore culturally relevant topics and develop cross-cultural skills through the exploration of analogies and differences between their native culture and the Italian world, thus building a bridge of cultural and liguistic awareness. Language skills are strengthened through written and oral activities which provide practice of linguistic forms and challenge the student's creative skills. Class will be conducted entirely in Italian. The class meets MWF with instructor, once with course assistant (either Tue or Thurs) for drill and conversation. Days and times for CA sessions will be announced first week of class.
