In this introduction to the Latin language, reading ability in the language is emphasized. About two thirds of the introductory textbook will be covered. Halfway through the second semester, we will begin reading a Latin novel.

Regular class attendance is expected. This course is intended for those with little or no previous experience in Latin; those with an extensive background in high school Latin should consult the instructor about whether they should begin their college Latin with 101, 102 or 201, or higher.
