Fall 2007
Section: 01

PHYS111 is the first of two noncalculus courses covering fundamental principles of physics and is targeted specifically toward nonscience majors. It is followed by PHYS112, offered in the spring semester. By drawing on examples from everyday life, such as car crashes, basketball, dance, air travel, and the threat of nuclear war, the physics of mechanics, atoms, nuclei, fluids, and gases will be covered. The emphasis will be on developing a conceptual understanding of the physical processes as well as problem solving skills.
