Research Methods in Developmental Psychology: General

The goal of this course is to introduce students to basic research strategies and methods, with a focus on quantitative methods in developmental psychology. Course materials will focus on the conceptual, design, and analytic issues to research across development. Topics will include the role of age and developmental stage as organizing variables, relevant methodologies and designs, statistical analyses, and the presentation of research findings in written and presentation formats. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to both conduct and evaluate research. In the service of these goals, students will participate in lectures, readings, and discussion as well as hands-on research experience.
