Advanced Research in Cognitive Development

This course is designed to allow advanced students to conduct a supervised group research project in cognitive development. Working with the instructor, students will conduct an experiment that seeks to answer a current question in the field of cognitive development. The class will meet weekly to discuss relevant articles, make research plans, and share progress reports; the results of the study will be compiled in a research report at the end of the term.

Essential Capabilities: Designing, Creating, and Realizing, Writing
Students will conduct original research projects in the field of cognitive development and write up detailed reports of their findings, with multiple drafts.

Please contact the instructor by email (hbarth@wesleyan.edu) to submit more detailed information about your request, including the following: (1) previous experience with research methods and/or statistics, (2) previous experimental research experience, (3) experience working with children, and (4) the reason for your interest in this class. Students admitted to the course will be notified by email by the end of Planning period.

The instructor is on leave in Fall 2009. Final research group meeting times will be established based on class members' schedules in Spring 2010.
