This course will examine the study of the African diaspora, the influence of African culture in South America. It will introduce religious, social, and contemporary dance forms through a historical perspective of African identity in Brazil.

Essential Capabilities: Intercultural Literacy, Interpretation
Interpretation - the examination, review and discussion of culture and
history through various resources.

Intercultural Literacy - the understanding of codified language and
technique of a cultural dance form past, present and future.
