This museum studies seminar introduces students to the history of art museums and current debates on the role of museums in today's society, as well as institutional practices and career paths. In addition, students will organize a group exhibition of artwork from the Davison Art Center collection, research objects, and write exhibition labels. |

Students will collaboratively organize an exhibition in the Davison Art Center Gallery. To elect works for the show, they ill need to examine, research and present works of art.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
This is a museum studies seminar focusing on curatorial methods and exhibition development. Permission of instructor required. In addition to the Thursday class there will be two sessions scheduled on Mondays and Fridays for independent work in the Davison collection. Possible field trip to conservation laboratory at Yale Center for British Art, New Haven.
