The orientation, navigation and migratory behaviors of animals from bacteria to vertebrates are examined from both mechanistic (how) and evolutionary (why) viewpoints. Readings and lecture/discussions will necessarily include material from each of the following disciplines: animal behavior, evolutionary biology, ecology and neurophysiology.
