Senior Colloquium: Political Economy
CSS 391
Fall 2022
Section: 01

This course introduces some basic ideas from game theory to analyze the social logic of conflict, coordination, and cooperation. A central theme of the course concerns the conditions that make it possible for societies to avoid "social traps" associated with coordination failures, externalities, and free-riding behavior with respect to the provision of public goods. To animate the ideas studied in this course, students will engage in a series of online strategic games, the results of which will inform and motivate class discussion.
