This course will take a historical look at jazz movement, the early elements and development of jazz dance and how it coincides with the music of jazz and the life conditions of the Afro-American people. The three general areas to be covered are (1) traditional African elements (2) plantation dance of release and relief and (3) early postslavery dance favorites. |
