Course Cluster: Southern Asia Studies |
This course is an introduction to the movement language of the South Indian Classical Dance tradition, Bharata Natyam. Through daily embodiment of the movement language of Bharata Natyam, students will gain an understanding of the aesthetic, political, social and cultural dimensions of this form. The course will focus largely on studio participation, combined with readings, discussions and video viewings to deepen our understanding of this form. There is no prerequisite and no prior dance experience is expected for this course. |
