The dramatic restructuring of health care and health insurance markets in the 1980s and 90s, and the escalating cost of medical care over the last several decades have stimulated interest in health economics among policymakers, health care providers, employers and the general public. Course topics will include: health expenditure patterns, demand and supply of health insurance, supplier-induced demand, public versus private financing of health care, international differences and similarities in health care systems and the economics of aging. |
