The English Essay

This course will focus on the writing of nonfiction and the forms of the English essay. Readings will be drawn from a range of genres, both nonfiction and fiction, including memoirs and profiles, historical and contemporary commentary, short stories and novels.

Essential Capabilities: Intercultural Literacy, Writing
The readings in this course have a cross-cultural focus; the students come from a wide variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The course focuses on developing the ability to write in a variety of non-fiction genres and emphasizes the editing and revision processes.
